Land Disturbance Permits

A Land Disturbance Permit is part of our MS4 Program.  It is a Permit that allows you to begin excavation on your property.  We issue Land Disturbance Permits for Developments and Residental projects. 

Developments
If you need a Land Disturbance Permit for a Development, please call our office at
(615) 442-1153.

Residential Projects

It will be required that you have a Land Disturbance Permit if the soil disturbance is one (1) acre or more, or less than one (1) acre if the site is part of a larger common development or subdivision.

If you need a Land Disturbance Permit for your Residential project bring
the following items to our office:

* A copy of your proposed site plan including erosion control measures
* A copy of your deed
* A check written to Sumner County Engineering Department for $100
*SWPPP (Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan) (You can print a copy by clicking this link:

*NOI (Notice of Intent) (You can print a copy by clicking this link:

No permits will be issued until the erosion control measures are installed and approved. 

Illicit Discharge Hotline

To report unlawful dumping of substances such as motor oil or other contaminants that flow into storm sewers or streams in Sumner County, please call 442-1153 and leave a detailed message.  To check discharges that are allowed, please click on the Storm Water Management Ordinance, page 27.
