For mail requests please send a Self-Addressed Stamped Envelope and $5 search and processing fee to the above address. There is a minimum $5 fee for a search up to 1/2 hour. Each additional 1/2 hour is $5.00. Limit your request to five items (such as a will, marriage, or lawsuit). Do not telephone. Our staff member cannot perform research on your family, but is happy to supply any specific items that you request. General letters requesting "everything you have on the Wilson family" or "the names of my great grandparents" are not acceptable and will be returned. We will search the indexed records only. Include your full name and address in the text of your letter. Provide all pertinent information regarding your request (i.e. record type, name, date, place). When you place your request we will perform a search for the record requested, provided that all the steps above are followed. If a record is found, the staff will send you a price quote for obtaining copies of the records requested. The search and processing fee is due when you mail your initial request regardless of findings. To order return the price quote along with your payment and a self addressed stamped envelope. Please allow up to 8 weeks for your request to be processed. The Sumner County Archives does not invoice. Payment must be made in advance for research and copies. Once the Archives has received your payment in full your copies will be mailed to you. The Sumner County Archives does not accept debit or credit cards.

There is a $20 fee for all returned checks. If you pay with a personal check please verify all information on your check is correct. If your phone number and valid driver’s license number is not printed on your check we will need you to write it on the check, preferable below your address.
