Sumner County Obituaries
Obituaries are an excellent source of information for the genealogist. Therefore the Sumner County Archives has consolidated various obituary collections at the Archives into one computerized index. Listed below are the extant collections.
There are five columns for name, death date if available otherwise age at death, source, page number and location of death in that order. The date listed is the death date of the person, unless the source is NewsX (The News Examiner). If the source is NewsX then the date shown is the issue date of the paper. The location is assumed to be Sumner County, TN unless otherwise stated. It is believed that all obituary sources at the archives are included, but that the index does NOT include all obituaries for those who died in Sumner County. Since various people compiled the obituary collections, there is no way to know how complete they are.
