Q: What is the right of way of a particular road?
A: Each road's right of way is different, it is best to call our office to obtain this information.

Q: What is the speed limit on a particular county road?
A: Each road's speed limit is different and several do not have a set speed limit, it is best to call our office to obtain this information. If the road doesn't have a posted speed limit sign, then the speed limit is assumed to be 55 MPH.

Q: Does the highway department install driveway "tile" connections?
A: No, but we will be glad to have someone check to see what size diameter tile is needed for new connections and we recommend at least twenty (20) feet in length.

Q: Who picks up an animal carcass on a county road or road right of way?
A: The Sumner County Rabies Control picks up domestic animal carcass' and currently no one picks up non-domestic animal carcass'.

Q: Does the county offer brush chipper service?
A: Yes, residents in the county may call for this service. This service is provided as a supplemental service and sometimes it can be up to several days before the brush is picked up. If the residents don't wish to wait for this service they can obtain a burn permit number ( at no cost ) by calling 1-800-367-3507 before they burn.

Q: Who takes care of the Hwy 109 Ridge and Hwy 174?
A: TN Department of Transportation, any road that has a number and is outside the city limits is maintained by the state. They have a local office in Gallatin, the number is (615) 451-5822.
