New Burrus Elementary School

Students, parents and residents saw Dr. William Burrus Elementary School at Drakes Creek in Hendersonville for the first time Monday, Jan. 4, when teachers and staff held an open house.

Treasure for Treats!!

This Halloween, the Sumner County Health Department is fighting childhood obesity by starting the 1st annual Treasure for Treats program. Bring your Halloween candy to the Sumner County Health Department on November 2nd or November 3rd and trade it in for an exercise toy from our treasure chest!

Second Annual Fall Back Bolt on Saturday, November 7th

STC will host the 5 mile/ 5K on the Station Camp Greenway with the start and stop at the Douglass-Clark House. During the run, this section of the Greenway will be CLOSED to the public.

Longtime Public Servant Pam Whitaker Passes Away

The community is morning the loss of a longtime elected county official - Sumner County Register of Deeds, Pam Whitaker, who passed away Saturday morning. A release sent from the office of County Executive Anthony Holt reads, "We are extremely shocked and saddened by the passing of Mrs. Pam Whitaker. Mrs. Whitaker will be severely missed by all her constituents and fellow elected officials across the county." Whitaker worked in Sumner County government for more than two decades; starting first as deputy clerk, then running for register of deeds. "During her tenure, she spent her time working to improve the Register of Deeds office by computerizing, digitizing, and modernizing to help it be more user friendly," Holt goes on to say. "Our heartfelt condolences go out to her family and friends at this time."

County Admin. Building Closed on Monday, October 12, 2015

The County Administration Building will be closed on Monday, October 12, 2015 in observance of Columbus Day. Offices will re-open on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at 8 a.m.
